Patrick Ellington was born in Roanoke, Virginia but has spent almost all of his life in North Carolina. Mr. Ellington grew up in Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, graduating from North Stokes High School. After two years at Rockingham Community College, Mr. Ellington attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications.
After an academic break, Mr. Ellington spent two years working towards a Master’s Degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Mr. Ellington then spent a year working for Penske Trucking Leasing in Greensboro, North Carolina before the economic downturn lead to a period of unemployment. Next, Mr. Ellington spent three and a half years working as a Probation/Parole Officer II in Guilford County, North Carolina working in both the Greensboro and High Point offices. Next, Mr. Ellington attended Elon University School of Law, completing his Juris Doctor in December of 2015. After passing the February 2016 North Carolina Bar Exam, Mr. Ellington spent some time working in Charlotte, North Carolina before accepting a Magistrate’s Position in Warren County, Virginia in September of 2016.
Mr. Ellington accepted a position with The Law Offices of J. Scott Smith in May of 2017, returning to North Carolina.
